This core box bit features a rounded tip with a 1/2 in. radius and a 1 in. cutting diameter. The cutting depth is 3/4 in. and the shank is 1/4 in. Core box bits have rounded tips that are perfect for routing channels in cutting boards and producing flutes in columns using solid wood or MDF. Our core box bits are available in various diameters, with a choice of 1/4 in. and 1/2 in. shanks. The smaller shank diameter works well in laminate trimmers, while the 1/2 in. shanks are ideal for deep cuts with full-size routers.

Performed perfectly in routing out the maple frame of the copper lined ashtray I constructed. I allowed me to set up the form of the ashtray in the maple wood, and then use that to tap the copper down to match the design.

It burned the wood in places.

I have not used the router bit yet. It looks good and got here okay but heaven help you if you need to return something to home depot. They are almost impossible to contact and seem to be unwilling to respond to email inquiries.

Nice bit, I like it a lot but I did get more burn marks than normal. There’s a chip in the metal in a place that doesn’t contact the wood, so that’s fine.
