The Yost 855 Professional Reversible Vise is designed for mechanics that need a vise with large jaw opening capabilities. This vise is constructed from 30,000 psi cast iron for extra durability. For unmatched versatility this vise features a reversible main jaw. When the front jaw is reversed, the jaw capacity is increased to a phenomenal 9-3/4 in. The 5.5 in. W serrated machinist jaws feature 2 small V-Grooves to grip parts vertically. The 2 machined anvils provide a smooth work surface for forming or shaping. Cast in place pipe jaws allow this vise to grip pipe up to 3 in. thick. The 360° swivel base allows the vise to be rotated to any position for easy operation. The base features 2 lockdowns that will prevent the vise from rotating once the lockdowns have been tightened. The base also features 4 mounting tabs to secure the vise to the workbench (mounting hardware not included).

Bigger than I imagined. Very large base. Manual does not have actual size drill template for mounting.This thing is a beast and looks like it will take a beating for many years to come. Mounted it on a slide out of the back door of my work van.Can be swiveled to hold pipe behind vehicle as in picture or however needed. It swivels to the side for clearance when doors are closed and gives extension to clear rear of vehicle.Could have mounted it in the receiver below but then I find I’m either bending over or kneeling in the gravel.Slide is built by Mastrack, Home Depot doesn’t handle them, but made a very nice installation.

I recently purchased this 5.5″ vise through the Home Depot app. My initial impressions are that the vise has a great build quality and is beyond my expectations at this price point. I had researched quite a few different options but decided having the extra anvil space and the reversible jaw would work better for my application. There is very little play in the jaw, the screw mechanism operates smoothly and the machined surfaces have a high quality fit and finish to them. Per Yost; The 855 was initially marked as CI (cast iron, 30,000 psi). About 1 year ago we redesigned the 855 to 855-D2 (65,000 psi ductile iron). We do not make a 855 (as cast iron) any longer. We’ve submitted numerous changes to HD but still to date the listing has not updated. I initially contacted HD as the seller to see if they could supply a replacement. Unfortunately HD is only able to return the entire vise not individual components. I was a little disappointed but understand a retailer cant possibly handle all replacement parts for everything they sell.I contacted Yost directly through their website to file a warranty claim and have a replacement part sent. All I can say is Yost hands down has the best customer service I’ve ever experienced!! Within 24 hours of submitting an email via the “help”, and the “contact us” page I was contacted via email by Pat N. from Yost. It was requested that I provide proof of purchase, a picture and description of the issue and complete a simple claims form. The process was quite painless and I had the approval for a replacement base the following day. They shipped out the part and it arrived within 2 days. I am very happy with the purchase and glad I supported a company that goes the extra mile to support their customers. ****
