Description
ALL Steel utility vises are light duty combination pipe and bench vises that are economically priced for various less demanding applications. The entire vise is constructed using structural cast steel. The bar covers the Acme threaded main screw. Each vise is equipped with replaceable hardened steel serrated jaws and built-in pipe jaws, interlocking swivel base with 360° motion equipped with 2 lockdowns, a large reinforced anvil and a no pinch main screw handle.

I have only used it once so far, but it appears to be well built. The swiveling is very smooth and the locks on the base grip firmly. The jaws close perfectly with no misalignment at all, the lead screw has a nice finish for smooth and tight closing, and it was lubricated well.

Had planned on just buying a cheap Harbor Freight cast vise. Glad I didn’t. I spent $40 more on this vise and it was well worth the price. Solidly built steel vise with two lock-down levers. Square jaws and no need to strip apart to clean up and lubricate.

I was replacing an old 3 1/2 inch vice with this new one. I is very solid and the swivel option works well. The anvil surface and pipe jaws were important to me. And of course the broad vice worked well. So far it’s worked like a charm for gripping, bending and hammering.

Only after a week of use seems to be good. I have used a torch, bent and drilled holes in metal. Good enough hold strength for now. We will see. The paint finish is pretty cool if you like the blacked out look.

I decided to order an all steel vise since they are typically stronger and let’s face it you buy a vice one in your lifetime so I didn’t mind paying a little extra. The 5 inch jaws are perfect for my application (working on smaller motorcycle parts, drilling, etc.) but you might want to go 6″ or 8″ if you are going to work on car part or other larger items. It was shipped for free to my home and I have mounted to my bench with carriage bolts. I am very happy with it.

I was looking for a reasonably priced bench vice that was strong, heavy and able to withstand heavy usage.For the most part, this vice will work fine, but, when I saw how relatively light this unit was, I was considering returning it. But, I installed it on a very strong, sturdy stainless steel bench-top, and it does meet my needs.I also have a 6″ Wilton vice I purchased years ago from Home Depot that I would recomnmend more.
